The very last in-person social function I attended before social distancing was the 40th birthday of one of my dear friends Alison Cohen. Being home so much while we try and flatten the curve made me reminisce about how great that event was and how thankful I am to have Alison in my life.
I met Alison through Flywheel where is she one of the leading instructors in the country. Her class is the hardest spin class I’ve ever taken and many would agree with that. I have never been pushed harder physically than in her classes, which are also so fun, provide great stress relief and are filled with dedicated, passionate riders.
In addition to pushing me to new physical bests, Alison is such a great person and friend who encourages me to be the best version of myself and a strong woman. She is kind, funny, empathetic, driven and strong – a great role model for me and so many others.
She was by my side when my ex suddenly left me and then started dating one of our friends over the summer. I will never forget all of the kind and loving support she gave me as my life was in shambles. I am eternally grateful to her for being there for me during the hardest time in my life.
It’s so hard to believe she is 40 because she looks a decade younger. I’m so thankful to have her in my life (plus she let me sing Total Eclipse of the Heart at her 40th!).
Happy birthday Al – you truly are a woman who wows, and I am so lucky to call you one of my close friends. May this year bring you everything you want and more.
