Why What You Post on Social Media Is More Important Than How Often You Post

In this video I explore why what you post on social media is more important than how often you post.

Many people think you need to post every single day to be successful on social media and while consistency and visibility are important, even more important is what you say. Don’t think you have to post to social media daily if you are sacrificing quality in order to come up with post ideas.

Creating really great content that people really want to read is your only goal (you can stay visible and top of mind by commenting and sharing others’ content).

So whether that means that you only post three times a week it’s better to do that than it is to post just mediocre content every day.

So again on those days when you don’t post an original post, maybe you make an insightful comment on someone else’s content or you share a connection’s post.

This is why having a content strategy is so important and should be part of what you’re doing each week.

Map out what you want to say, what are your content pillars, which means those things for which you really want to be known and then stick to those topics by writing about them weekly. Finally reuse and repurpose content that you already have to fill in any blanks in your editorial calendar.

You don’t have to post every single day to be successful on social media but you do have to post content that is helpful, relevant, interesting and really captures the attention of your audience.

Cadence is important but it’s not about the quantity, it’s always about the quality of your posts. It’s much better to spend the time to create great content.
