Why You Should Use a Link in Bio Tool Like Linktree

Links in bios are emerging as a new form of social media identity.

Link in bio tools such as Linktree enable you to add multiple links from one URL anywhere.

They can be used across social as a social business card, on your website, an e-commerce experience and much more.

They are very useful if you are a blogger, marketers, content creator or social media influencer.

Linktree is a bio link tool with a unique URL to house everything on your own Linktree to which you want to link. You have a secure login to an admin page where you update the links that display on the page.

In my opinion all companies should have a Linktree set up – you can then use this one link to promote many different initiatives as you can see below with mine.

Doing this gives your followers easy, one-click access to all of the places where they can find your content online.

How it Works

Your followers or readers click your link in bio tool (I use Linktree). They then arrive at your Linktree page which displays individual links to whatever you’ve chosen to display, like links to your blog or where to find you on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube.

Your followers or readers can then click on those individual links to go directly to that content.

Instagram only allows you to place web links in one place: your bio. You can’t link from an individual post or in a comment.

Instead of having one link to one piece of content, a link in bio acts as one web link that takes you to multiple pieces of content.

Once you’ve created a Linktree, you can use it anywhere. Instagram isn’t the only place that allows you to have a bio link. You could also use it on:

  • A LinkedIn profile to link to your portfolio, previous work, email and social profiles
  • Twitter bio to guide your audience to follow you across other platforms
  • Your business card
  • Posters and advertising
  • Your email signature
  • As your LinkedIn, TikTok or Snapchat bio link
  • As a link on your Whatsapp status

The Pros of Linktree

  • It’s free, unless you opt for pro features.
  • You get one bio link that houses links to all of your content in one place.
  • It’s simple and quick to open an account, set up your links and paste the Linktree link into your Instagram or other social media website field so you can share your content with your readers.
  • Gives you a way to add more than one “link” in Instagram, which currently only allows you to link one website in the bio.
  • You get helpful stats. Like clicks. Wow, my followers are actually clicking through to check out my blog.

It’s worth noting that the free version of Linktree has its limits when it comes to stars, styles and other customization issues.

You can also easily make your own ‘landing page’ by using your wordpress, squarespace or other blogging platform and then use that link in your bio. Doing this, you direct traffic to your site instead of to a “middleman” site that benefits from your traffic.

Having Linktree as an intermediary means that you may lose clicks along the way, as your readers might not keep click through to your content after reaching Linktree.

Whichever one you choose, it’s a good idea to use a link in bio tool like Linktree to increase engagement with your content and build your brand.
