Right now, online networking is the most important tool we have to stay top of mind with clients, prospects, employees, alumni, the media, recruits and others who are interested in updates about your company and its people.

In many ways, your LinkedIn company page is a second company web site, and because LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network where many people go directly for information and research, it may be even more important than your actual web site.

Your company page gives you a platform to post information about what you do and promote important news, insights, events and services. It’s one of the most powerful online marketing tools for companies of any size if you consistently post and engage with your followers.

In order to maximize your LinkedIn company page, you’ll need to do three things:

  1. grow your company page followers,
  2. drive awareness of your page, and
  3. post content that helps and educates others.

Regardless of how many followers you have, you have to keep them engaged with helpful posts or they will lose interest and your content won’t appear in their news feed. You can do this by regularly posting helpful, non self-boasting content to provide value to your followers.

Here’s how:

Erinn Larson is the Director of Marketing & Business Development at Hirsch Roberts Weinstein LLP, a Boston-based boutique law firm specializing in employment law, labor law and litigation.

I met Virginia native Erinn through the Legal Marketing Association several years ago and invited her to be part of conference committee I was co-chairing. I was so impressed with Erinn’s work ethic, her poise, her creativity and her enthusiasm.

We stayed in touch long after that conference, and today, despite our age difference (yes, I’m much older), we learn from each other. We often partner together hosting Clubhouse rooms and other social media programs. She is not a big self promoter, so I am going to do that for her (and others) through this series.

Allison Nussbaum is the Vice President of Client Value at Pitchly where she builds teams focused on helping clients extract immediate and ongoing value from their investment the Pitchly tool. She has held a number of sales roles and also was an in-house legal marketer. Learn more about Allison.

Joanne Thorud is the Marketing & Business Development Director at Davis Malm in Boston. She is responsible for the strategic marketing and business development efforts of the firm and its attorneys.

Jo has worked in the legal industry for over 30 years. One of her favorite things to do – in and out of work – is introduce people who would benefit from knowing each other. She is an active member of the Legal Marketing Association Northeast Region. Jo currently co-chairs the Boston Small Firm/Solo Marketer SIG and is a past chair of the Boston Local Steering Committee.

Jo is a woman who wows for so many reasons – we met through our work in the Legal Marketing Association several years ago and have kept in touch through social media (love the power of social media to build and nurture relationships!) and she is just an all-around great person. I love her profile because who she is really comes through – especially the love she has for her mom – and the great advice she has for women of all ages.

Iris Jones is the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at McNees Wallace & Nurick and leads a team of marketing and business development professionals in delivering proactive strategy, service and high-level support to the firm and its attorneys. She previously held senior marketing and BD roles at Dykema Gossett, Chadbourne & Parke and Akin Gump. She practiced law in Texas in both the public and private sectors.

I met Iris through the Legal Marketing Association and greatly enjoyed getting to know her through the years. She is smart, kind and always willing to give advice or lend a hand.
